Tell Me More About Data Warehouses

What It Is

A data warehouse is the digital storage unit. It is a space to hold specialized data sets that are then used for curating new member trends, marketing campaigns, strategic analysis, and other data strategies defined by credit union. A direct line from core processing to a storage unit. A holding space for 3rd party data you wish to link with core processing data. No additional hardware or software to buy. A storage unit for containing data that teams can use further credit union data-driven decisions – all this and more is what you get when you decide which storage unit is right for the design of your data strategy.

Simply put, a data warehouse is a space to store the data sets made available only to those who have the space to process them.

How You Use It

A set of native tools exists in CU*BASE to manage your warehouse:

The Library Dashboard

This tool (#1980) allows you to manage your data warehouse. You can sort, explore, change, copy, delate, or rename the files and data sets in your warehouse. Additionally, Tool #1981 is a simple tool for you to manage the list of individuals who can have the right to view or use the Data Warehouse. A user needs to be on the list in order to run queries that use data living inside your Data Warehouse, to add new data into the Data Warehouse, and to delete or make changes to data inside the Data Warehouse  More About the Library Dashboard

Data Transfers (Uploads & Downloads)

This tool (#1375) you may be familiar with! This tool allows authorized users to commit data to their data warehouse via file transfers. More About Data Transfers.

Report Builder (Query)

The solution for customized reports, CU*BASE Report Builder is a specialized function allowing users to pull out data elements from CU*BASE tables to generate custom information. In conjunction with report automation, report output can be automatically added to your data warehouse. More About Report Builder.

How Much It Costs

You’ll pay a one-time amount of $1000 to have your credit union’s Data Warehouse established in CU*BASE. Once established, you’ll pay a small base fee of $100 per month plus a simple $10/GB based on the plan you choose.
