The Latest Updates on Apple Pay Push Provisioning

We are continuing to learn more details about the new requirements made by Apple Pay (click here to view our prior announcement). We are hearing that card processors are working directly with Apple Pay regarding mandatory requirements like push provisioning, to see what a waiver and/or extension process will look like. However, even if your card processor does receive an exception/waiver, we do not know whether or not this will cover your mobile banking app.

As we are not a card processor and do not have a relationship with Apple Pay, we recommend that credit unions who do have a relationship with Apple Pay reach out to them directly to ask about your options while we continue to work on completing the push provisioning solution for out mobile app. We will keep you posted on our progress over the coming months via the Digital Card Issuance (DCI) Kitchen page.

Please note that when this solution becomes available, you will need to review and sign contracts with CPI Group for the push provisioning solution (which includes costs) as well as open projects directly with your card processor. So even when CU*Answers becomes ready, it is possible your card processor may put your project in a queue for a later date. Stay tuned for more information on how to request projects and get in the CU*Answers queue via the DCI Kitchen page.

Additional note: if you do not have a relationship with Apple Pay, this requirement would not impact your credit union.
