This recipe tracks enhancements in the works for the new membership opening process in CBX. The workflow settings accessed via Tool #1004 “Workflow Controls: Open Memberships” are being completely re-vamped with added features to improve the membership opening process. The front screen will be completely revamped to list all the configured branches with options to edit, copy, delete and add branch settings. You will no longer have to set up each branch separately. There will be a default branch of 99 to be used if a branch is not configured (if all your branches have the same settings, only the default branch is needed). You will still be able to copy from one branch to another and a delete function is added.
You will be able to configure separate settings for MI (individual) versus MO (organizational) memberships. That way default settings like requiring mother maiden name or presenting the Photo ID reminder (to name a few) can be different for individuals vs. businesses.
The new membership workflow configuration will be broken out into three screens, the first is for default settings that determine which screens will appear in the flow, for example OFAC scan, secondary names setup and marketing club enrollment. The majority of the settings on this screen are existing.
The second screen contains the controls for required fields, warning messages and misc. requirements. This includes things like requiring an open reason code or driver’s license and presenting specific warning messages in the flow (with new optional warning messages as listed below).
The third workflow setting screen contains controls for the options that will display in Member Personal Banker at the end of the workflow. Features that do not apply to membership opening are removed (Debit Card Round Up, See/Jump Relationships, etc.) and the credit union will be able to configure which features to display and not display. In addition, you will be able to specify for members to be automatically enrolled in online banking, eStatements, audio response and eNotices.
Enhancements In the Works
New Membership Workflow
You can look forward to the following enhancements to the membership opening workflow:
- Option to specify whether a hard or soft credit report pull should be run
- Ability to not require a driver’s license number if under a specified age and to not require a state if driver’s license number is blank
- Option to display warning messages if at least one phone number does not have text opt-in, daytime, and/or nighttime flag set to Y
- Option to display warning message if no secondary name is specified
- Option to not allow the account base to be manually assigned
- Add NAICS code as optional required field
- DBA names will be checked against organization names in the blocked persons database
Automatic Enrollment
The credit union will have the option for the member to be automatically enrolled in online banking, audio response, eNotices and eStatements without having to access the enrollment screens at the end of the workflow from Member Personal Banker (Tool #14). The enrollment will occur during the new membership workflow.
Member Personal Banker Options
The Member Personal Banker screen that displays at the end of the workflow can be customized so that only the features applicable for the credit union will display. For example, if the credit union does not offer RDC, they can specify not to display RDC Enrollment in Member Personal Banker. Also, features that do not apply to new membership opening are removed.
Status as of 12/11/25: Specifications are in process
Other Ideas Being Considered
These are still in very early design phases and may or may not come to pass, but here’s what’s on our wish list to consider for future development on new membership opening in CBX:
- Pull joint owner SSNs into the credit report request during new membership flow so all reports can be pulled at the same time
- Auto enrollment in a marketing club configured by membership designation
- Controls to make certain custom fields (UDM) required based on membership designation
