We were recently made aware of new requirements made by Apple Pay. The updated documentation states the issuer must support push provisioning within their mobile app. Initially, we thought this would not impact CU*Answers, as we are not the issuer, and we do not have an integration or relationship with Apple Pay. However, to ensure we were doing our due diligence, we spoke with several card processors who advised their understanding as the following: if the credit union has a relationship with Apple Pay and has any mobile app, a push provisioning solution is required. A Knowledge Base topic is available if you would like to share with your staff.
As you know from our Leadership Conference, push provisioning is already a focus for CU*Answers, and we have begun active development of this product now with a vendor that can support all EFT vendors. As we finalize plans for the product, including the costs associated with the solution, we will be advising credit unions of its availability. We anticipate onboarding to include coordination with the vendor as well as a deployment update to your mobile app.
Since communication on this has not always crystal clear, we would appreciate you passing along any additional insights or information you might receive about the requirements to our Cards and Payments team at cardsandpayments@cuanswers.com.
