Enhancements Coming to CU*Chat 10/21/26

Tonight, October 20th, eDOC will be deploying a package to CU*Chat that will include several enhancements. These updates will be reflected starting tomorrow, October 21st. The following updates will be implemented:

  • Improved File Sharing: Files can now be sent without an accompanying text message.
  • Separate Text and File Messages: When text and a file are sent together, they will now appear as two separate messages within the conversation.
  • File Renaming: Files shared within a conversation can now be renamed by hovering over the message and selecting Rename file.
  • Private Conversations: Organizations with this feature enabled can mark conversations as private, restricting visibility to participants within that conversation. Private conversations are identified by a lock icon.
  • Conversation Filing Options: Users can set or change where a conversation is filed at any time through the Indices tab in Edit Conversation.
  • Filing Location Visibility: The conversation closing screen now displays where the conversation will be filed.
  • External Participant Access Codes: Access codes for external participants can now be edited or removed without having to remove and re-add the participant.
  • Improved Mobile Experience: Enhancements have been made to improve Chat functionality for external participants accessing conversations from phones and tablets.
  • Updated Disclosure Editor: The EULA and Privacy Disclosure now use a Word-style editor with red and green text highlighting.
  • Simplified Closed Conversations: Closed conversations now display only the Delete option.
  • Special Characters in Participant Names: Names containing ampersands (&), commas, or underscores are now accepted when adding participants.
  • Participant Addition Notifications: If a participant cannot be added to a conversation, an error message will now explain the reason instead of incorrectly indicating that the participant was added successfully.
  • Corrected Message Identification: Users with identical display names will no longer see another participant’s messages incorrectly identified as their own.
  • Clearer Error Messages: Error messages now provide more accurate information. For example, entering an incorrect access code will display a specific error rather than a general “Service unavailable” message.
  • Improved Conversation Navigation: Deleting the conversation currently being viewed will now automatically return users to their conversation list.
  • Improved Login Performance: Resolved an issue that caused login delays of up to six seconds in certain environments. Chat now uses consistent system settings across all pages, helping prevent unnecessary delays and providing a faster, more reliable login experience.
  • Automatic Browser Updates: Browsers will now automatically load the latest version of Chat following an update, eliminating the need to manually clear the browser cache.

Please note that CU*Chat will be unavailable between 10:00 PM and 12:00 AM ET tonight, October 20th while these updates are implemented.
