Fannie Mae Loan Escrow Event Reporting

As part of a phased modernization of their servicing platform, Fannie Mae is requiring Loan Escrow Event Reporting for FNMA seller/servicer credit unions effective December 1, 2026.  Escrow balances will need to be reported daily to Fannie Mae along with each escrow event (deposit and disbursements).

CU*Answers is actively working on a project that will gather this information from CBX to be automatically transmitted via an API to Fannie Mae daily.  This is a new process  completely separate from the existing loan-level Fannie Mae reporting that happens today.  For the Escrow Event Reporting, based on what we’ve gleaned from the Fanne Mae Customer Integration Test Plan document (which your CU should also have received), our understanding is that Fannie Mae is requiring credit unions to use Fannie’s test environment to make sure you can sign in and update their database independent of the automated daily process.

We are working to get more clarity from Fannie Mae regarding our role, if any, is in what your CU is required to test, but we believe that credit unions do have their own role and test steps they need to follow, independent of what we’re doing.

Status as of 9/17/26: PS#68117 to create the new daily transmission file for escrow account activity is in development!
