Rooted in a mission to lead with transparency, elevate others through opportunity and education, and build communities where people are supported, encouraged, and inspired to thrive, April Tompkins brings a values‑driven approach to her role as Chief Executive Officer of Explorers Credit Union. Her leadership centers on clarity, accountability, empowerment, and purposeful growth—principles that guide every initiative she champions.
With more than 15 years of progressive experience at Explorers Credit Union, April began her career as a part‑time teller in 2010 and advanced through roles including Executive Assistant, ALM Specialist, and COO before being named CEO. Known for her data‑driven discipline and ability to transform strategy into meaningful outcomes, she leads efforts to strengthen member experience, modernize operations, and expand financial empowerment across the region.
April serves on the Site‑Four Board of Managers as well as the Dakota Credit Union Foundation Board. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and is nearing completion of her MBA in 2026.
