A Guided Tour of CU*Answers : Item Processing
Image Check Processing
Since the early 1980s, CU*Answers has offered premier Check Processing services to credit unions via its CU*Check application. Today, CU*Answers provides services to 71 credit unions, handling over 1.9 million checks monthly.
The success of CU*Check comes from the quality service provided through our Item Processing Support Team. This dedicated group consists of over 35 staff located in three offices to provide personalized and responsive client service. They are available to assist with any issue that may arise, including difficult reconciliation and balancing issues.
A second key is CU*Answers on-going commitment to invest in technology. CU*Answers fully embraces imaging as a standard component within its CU*Check system. Check copies may be retrieved, viewed and printed from any PC with Internet access. For CU*BASE data processing clients, CU*CheckViewer has been linked to It’s Me 247, providing Home Banking members instant access to check images. Various options are available for linking to third party home banking packages.
CU*Check 21 (Check 21 processing)
CU*Answers and Corporate One Federal Credit Union have a combined 50+ years in providing high quality Item Processing services to more than 400 credit unions. Now, they have joined forces as a new CUSO, called Processing Alliance, LLC, to deliver the many benefits of Check 21 processing to credit unions. Best of all, CU*Check 21 has been designed by credit union processing experts to serve only the credit union marketplace.
CU*Check 21 is easy to set up and get going. All that is needed is a high speed Internet connection at each installed site. We also have our Network Services team of network design and security experts on board to assist with any Internet connectivity or upgrade considerations you may have.
Processing Alliance has two CU*Check 21 processing solutions in place for both credit unions that would rather manage their own scanning infrastructure and credit unions that would rather have the infrastructure supported by Processing Alliance.
- The CU*Check 21 Independent program is designed for credit unions who have the resources to manage their own scanning infrastructure with limited support from Processing Alliance.

- Provides CU*Check 21 software from Goldleaf Corporation
- Stores images in a searchable database for seven years
- Forwards items for collection using a least-cost routing model
- The CU*Check 21 Associate program includes Check 21-ready hardware and software that is supplied, updated and supported by Processing Alliance.
