Using J/E Templates

Because there are journal entries that will be made on a regular basis, either daily or monthly, CU*BASE lets you make a “template” for journal entry batches.

A template is simply a batch of journal entries which is copied and reused as often as needed. Descriptions and G/L accounts numbers will then be consistent from day to day or month to month, and much repetitive typing is eliminated. Simply make a copy of the template, modify the copy to include the most current figures, and post it!

The following is a simple example of a daily template. Notice that $.01 has been entered on each line just as a point of reference—so that when actual figures are entered, you'll know whether they should be debits or credits.

  • HINT: To make it easy to identify a batch that is a template, click the Template box on this screen.  That way when you enter the entry screen, you will not see this journal entry batch.  To view your templates, simply click on the Toggle button above the Template column.
