Operations Introduction

This introduction comes directly from our own portal, where we help employees understand each department's role at CU*Answers.  Here, we share the same information with you that we share with our employees.

Jeff Miller

Operations Manager

Welcome to the Heart of CU*Answers!

On behalf of the Operations Department, I would like to welcome you to our Operation's Web Page. We like to refer to our Department as the Heart of CU*Answers. You wouldn't be able to function without a heart.

The Operations Team's primarily responsibilities are to ensure that CU*Answers, CU*Answers Clients, and the Client's members can perform smoothly on a day-to-day basis without a hitch. The operations team monitors CU*BASE, It’s Me 247, CU*TALK, CU*CHECK, CU*SPY, ATM network switches, and miscellaneous CU*BASE errors in general. We are staffed 24/7 to ensure CU*Answers is available 24/7.

The department is split up into 3 shifts. Three employees handle the first shift Monday through Saturday, 1 employee works second shift Monday through Friday, and 2 employees split a 7-day week third shift schedule. All three shifts combined process approximately 150 Bisync and FTP transmissions a day. Some examples of the variety of transmissions processed on a daily basis are ATM and Debit Card transactions, Share and Corporate drafts, Credit Card transactions, Positive Balance files, ATM Settlement reports, ACH via FEDLINE, ATM Card Maintenance, Collateral Protection Insurance extracts, and miscellaneous insurance postings.

High Availability. You probably have heard this phrase a time or two within the last few months. CU*Answers has selected iTera, Inc. as the software vendor to support our iSeries redundancy and backup strategies. We have purchased their Echo-2 product to keep our primary production system in synchronization with the new backup iSeries (HALOCAL). What does this mean to CU*Answers and our clients? We can perform system upgrades, system maintenance or even handle those unexpected catastrophic failures without noticeable interruption. This is a big jump forward for CU*Answers.

The Operations Team would like to invite you to stop by the computer room for demonstrations of how our team keeps the Heart pumping!
