Education Introduction

This introduction comes directly from our own portal, where we help employees understand each department's role at CU*Answers.  Here, we share the same information with you that we share with our employees.

Laura Welch-Vilker

Manager of Education Services

Welcome to the Education site!

Education is one of the most important responsibilities we have here at CU*Answers. Not only educating clients, but making sure we concentrate on our internal education and development. Every department at CU*Answers contributes to the training and education of our clients, from our Client Service and Conversion Teams, to Systems and Operations, just to name a few. Educating our clients happens on a daily basis through telephone support, but also includes classroom training, individual training, workshops, and our documentation.

We offer five scheduled weeks of CU*BASE training to our clients each year at our Kentwood location. These weeks are broken up into "Theme Days", which make it convenient for our clients to attend. Many members of our staff contribute their expertise by training classes during these weeks. To view the schedule for trainers, click the link on the previous page titled "Trainer Calendar".

We also offer four Regional User Group Meetings, which are held in areas where we have a high concentration of clients. These are designed to allow credit unions to have more local training so that they can increase their participation without having to send the entire staff to the Grand Rapids area.

To learn more about our client training, click the link on the previous page titled "CU*Answers University", here you can view the Education Catalog, which outlines the different types of training we offer our clients.

I mentioned earlier that internal education and development is a very important part of your growth here at CU*Answers. Because of that, we have developed the Employee Participation Program (EPP). The point of the program is to encourage employees to take control of their own education and personal development, and provide a measurable standard for our "Effort Before Reward" goal. Each year the CEO sets a budget for merit and cost of living increases for each department, and each department manager is responsible for setting salary changes according to that budget. Your participation in education is one of the factors used to determine your salary adjustment for next fall. To learn more about the EPP, read the previous page for an overview of the program, than look for the box on the right titled "Inside Employee Education". You will notice there are four areas of training. Please take time to investigate this program, as it is a very important part of your growth here at CU*Answers

.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our Education Team. I look forward to assisting you with your development here at CU*Answers.

When Laura is not at CU*Answers organizing training events or at a client site training, she likes to spend time at home with her husband Jim, dog Sherman, and three cats; Vern, Steve and Smokey. Adapting to Michigan's seasons, Laura spends the winter schussing downhill, while the warm weather months allow for gardening and boating.
